My Sunday School class in our local Special Needs Ministry loves using Bible puppets to retell the Bible Story as a whole-group activity and as a center during playtime. We mix it by having the puppets pre-made or setting them out for children to make at the art center during playtime. Once the puppets are completed, children can use them to act out the Creation Bible Story.

When I taught K-5 special education, we loved extending our crafts with opportunities to practice writing. There are so many things to love about puppets and the immense amount of learning kids can learn by playing with them. They can practice their language development, social development, creativity, listening skills, storytelling and sequencing, fine motor skills, cutting, gluing, following directions, independence, writing, and reading. When children are engaged, they are actively participating in the learning process. Puppets are a great way to help children to be active learners as they are learning the Big Truths of the Bible.
